Hello! by NASMM Interviews the Founders of Artifcts

February 24, 2023

Mary Kay Buysse, Executive DirectorNational Association of Specialty & Senior Move Managers ® (NASMM), describes herself as a "fan girl" of Artifcts and with good reason. Technology is awesome when it's awesome, and the rest of the time it gets in our way, causes costly delays and errors, and spoils relationships.

Our founders joined the Hello! interview series from NASMM for a deep-dive into Artifcts, a powerful digital instrument move managers will want to have front and center in their move management toolboxes. We offered a behind the scenes look into how Artifcts came to be as well as how move clients and their families benefit from Artifcts.

"Artifcts really has no direct competitor. What Artifcts is doing is unique because it's solving a problem we all have when we have to both deal with our stuff and want to preserve our stories and memories. And it's so easy and fun. It's remarkable!" said Mary Kay.

It was an engaging discussion, and we hope an informative one for all of you who are move managers or are in the position to hire someone to help with your next move. Artifcting can help you prepare, ease the emotional nature of the actual pack out day(s), and bring you joy for years to come. Listen in!

Artifcts Wins Mom’s Choice Awards® Gold

Artifcts® is honored to announce that it has earned the prestigious Mom’s Choice Award® (MCA) gold award. Having been rigorously evaluated by an MCA panel, Artifcts is deemed to be among the best products for families.

The MCA evaluation process uses a propriety methodology in which entries are scored on several elements including production quality, design, educational value, entertainment value, originality, appeal, and cost.

"We are thrilled to earn the Mom’s Choice Awards Honoring Excellence Seal of Approval,” says Artifcts co-founder and CEO Heather Nickerson. “We know all the great things the MCA does to connect consumers, educators, and caregivers with the best products and services available for families. As we push forward in our mission to connect with consumers and caregivers, we know our entry into the MCA family will be meaningful."

"Yes! All of that," added co-founder and CSO Ellen Goodwin. "As Artifcts has matured over the last 2.5 years, we've witnessed how it has spurred intergenerational connection and engagement and taken the burden off of families in the early stages of raising children through to later life transitions and milestones. This is why we are focused on transforming or relationships with stuff' and each other."

To be considered for an award, each entrant submits five (5) identical samples or memberships for testing. Entries are matched to evaluators in the MCA database. Evaluators are bound by a strict code of ethics not only to ensure objectivity, but also to ensure that the evaluation is free from the entrants' influence. The five evaluations are submitted to the MCA Executive Committee for final review and approval.

"Our aim to introduce families and educators to best-in-class products and services,” explains Dawn Matheson, Executive Director of the Mom’s Choice Awards. “We have a passion to help families grow emotionally, physically and spiritually. Parents and educators know that products and services bearing our seal of approval are high-quality and also a great value. The MCA evaluation program is designed to incorporate the expertise of scientists, physicians and other specialists; but we also engage parents, children, educators, and caregivers because they are experts in knowing what is best for their families.”

Artifcts a Featured Tool for Kickstarting Your Declutter

Angela Haupt, journalist with TIME magazine, featured Artifcts this week in an online article that united experts in mental health and decluttering to share tools and tactics to "kickstart a realistic decluttering routine." We especially loved this insight from our own strategic advisory board member and popular TV host Matt Paxton:

Many people struggle to declutter because they don’t want to part with items that remind them of someone or something they love, Paxton says. A simple mindset shift can make a big difference: Think of getting rid of stuff as a way of unearthing your family’s history.

A history you can then easily capture, preserve, and share here at Artifcts.

The full article is now available online at TIME as part of the health + mental health coverage.

Artifcts Featured in AgeTech Market Map from the Gerontechnologist

TheGerontechnologist™ is an online media platform that covers the global age tech ecosystem and offers online courses and education. It was created by Keren Etkin, gerontologist, entrepreneur and author of The AgeTech Revolution.

Etkin's background and ongoing research, entrepreneurship, and advising of startups in the AgeTech space means she has a unqiue vantage point from which to view the shifting landscape of AgeTech and the sister concept of LongeviTech. TheGerontechnologist™ map focuses on:

      • Startups that develop technology to tackle the challenges of aging and serve older adults and/ or family caregivers and/or elder care organizations
      • Startups that are venture-capital backed or have a commercially available product

This year Artifcts was featured in the TheGerontechnologist™ AgeTech Market Map within the category of Legacy.

"When the latest TheGerontechnologist™ map came out and everyone dug into the trends, it was painful to realize on the one hand the amazing innovation emerging and on the other how damning current market conditions are for the survival of AgeTech companies. Some call it the 'Great Extinction,'" said Artifcts co-founder and CEO Heather Nickerson. "We've persevered and made amazing in-roads in 2023 to provide key services and benefits to Artifcts members across legacy, planning, insurance, and even brain health. We're grateful to be featured."

Download your own copy of the map and explore the companies featured. We all need support, whether as caregivers or direct beneficiaries of the featured products and services. You might discover the solution meant for you and your lifestyle, life milestone, and life changes!
