When I retired in 1999, my wife and I began to travel, first domestically (Hawaii to Alaska!), and then on to Europe, including Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Luxembourg, and France. Sometimes the accordion even came out during these vacations...
One time I got recruited to play while on a leisure cruise down the Rhine. For 30 minutes, I played classic German songs with the accompaniment of the pianist. Even in Italy, on my last day of our trip while we were at a dinner, a 4-piece band was visiting the tables. A member of group encouraged me to join in. And I did, playing "Arrivederci," of course!
During these travels spanning Europe I pick up pins along the way to add to my hat. People loved the pins; they became this memorable addition to my performance outfit, "There's Jerry, leader of the band."
